Special Notice to IAA Members Regarding COVID-19
Issued March 26, 2020

The IAA Board has been considering how we might support our members during the ongoing crisis related to COVID-19. As an international association with members around the world, unfortunately we cannot provide guidance specific to each country's rules and regulations. As a starting point, we suggest that our members follow the recommendations of related professions, such as those coming from dental associations, in your area, as well as following guidance from your local government and health organizations. In mid-March, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US recommended that healthcare providers cancel all non-emergent patient appointments, indicating that US-based anaplastologists should not be seeing patients at that time. As information and restrictions seems to change daily, we recommend that you regularly check the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) website, as well as visiting the World Health Organization (WHO) website for up-to-date information. US-based members can find information about state executive orders relating to healthcare here.

The IAA Board and Board for Certification in Clinical Anaplastology (BCCA) formed a joint committee to develop more specific guidance for anaplastologists related to infection control, which was shared with IAA members via email and can also be found on the BCCA website, here.

Additionally, we understand that many of us are looking for ways to stay connected during an uncertain and challenging time, and to learn more about how to safely care for our patients once restrictions are lifted. The IAA Board will be hosting several interactive web-based Virtual Gatherings over the coming weeks as a way to bring members together to share information and resources with one another from around the world. Thanks to those who joined us on April 14th and April 28th for Virtual Town Halls on Infection Control for the Anaplastologist and 3D Printing for Fabrication of PPE. Town Halls are moderated discussions with presentations and opportunities for members to ask questions, connect with colleagues, and share their own experiences. Slides from the Virtual Town Halls are available at the bottom of this page as part of the IAA‘s COVID Response Center. Stay tuned for details about the next Virtual Gathering!

If there are specific topics that you would like us to cover in the future, or if you're interesting in presenting, please let us know.

Thank you for staying connected as we work together to navigate a challenging time, and please let us know how we can be helpful. Take good care.
