Membership Categories

The IAA provides categories of membership: Active, Associate, Student, Emeritus, and Honorary. Membership categories are determined by the applicant and may be reviewed by the membership committee. The following general descriptions outline the benefits and requirements of each membership category.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Active Members shall include individuals who are actively participating in the International Anaplastology Association. Active members have voting privileges, the right to hold office and serve on the Board. Minimum Participation Requirements must be met to maintain Active status. Every THREE years an Active member must:

  • attend at least ONE IAA annual conference, and

ONE of the following

  • present a lecture and/or workshop at the IAA annual conference, or
  • present a poster session at the IAA annual conference, or
  • publish an article in a field related journal, or
  • serve on the IAA Board, or
  • serve on an IAA committee 
Associate Members are those who have a particular expertise or interest in the field of anaplastology. There are no minimum requirements to apply for or maintain associate membership. Associate members may attend the annual business meeting but are not eligible to vote. Associate members may serve on IAA committees and are eligible for the offices of treasurer and secretary.
 
Student Members shall be full-time students enrolled in a baccalaureate, graduate or post-graduate program. They may continue as student members through the annual meeting immediately following their graduation. Student members may attend the annual business meeting, but do not have voting privileges. They may not hold office or serve on the board of directors, but can serve on committees and submit papers to the annual conference, the newsletter and the journal. Dues are reduced for student membership must accompany a document validating matriculation. 
 
Emeritus Members shall include Active Members over age 65 years who are retired from the field of Anaplastology. Emeritus Members may attend the annual business meeting, but do not have voting privileges. They may not hold office or serve on the Board, but can serve on committees and submit papers to the annual conference, the newsletter and the journal. Dues are reduced for emeritus members. 
 

Honorary Members are persons of distinction who have contributed significantly to the field of anaplastology. They pay no membership dues and have no voting privileges. Honorary Members must be nominated by the Board of Directors and approved by a two-thirds vote of the membership. 
 

Industry Members The International Anaplastology Association (IAA) created a new membership category for industry members to become involved in our mission of education, while providing our professional members with preferred resources for materials and technology. Industry members receive benefits and discounts as they gain greater exposure to professional members. Be sure to ask for a promotion code for use on our website.


MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION
New members are eligible for the Associate and Student membership categories. Upon completion of the active member requirements, an associate or student qualifies as an active member. If student membership status is chosen, the applicant must provide proof of full-time student status to be verified by the Executive Director or a Board Member.
 

To become an Active Member, the following requirements must be met:

Every THREE years an Active member must:

  • publish an article in the field related journal, or
  • serve on the IAA Board, or

  • Active             US $185.00
  • Associate       US $185.00
  • Student          US $  95.00
  • Emeritus        US $  95.00
  • Honorary        Waived
  • Industry          US $495.00

There is a US $15.00 administrative processing fee added for new members. 

Dues include an annual subscription to the IAA Newsletter, the International Journal of Anaplastology, and access to the interactive IAA Member Directory. Changes to the dues structure are proposed by the Board and voted upon by Active Members at the annual meeting. 

Membership Year: The membership year parallels the calendar year, January 1 through December 31, regardless of when applicants join. Dues are not prorated. Continuing members pay dues of $185.00 (USD) while in the grace period normally extending to January 31. A $15.00 (USD) renewal fee is assessed if membership lapses.  

Delinquent Dues: Dues are considered delinquent when they have not been paid by January 31. After this grace period, the member receives a notice from the IAA. The member's login to anaplastology.org is still valid but they will not be able to access the Membership Only section of the website and will not be listed publicly as a member. Members who pay dues after the due date will reappear in the online directory and will regain full access to the website upon payment. Paper applications must be postmarked by January 31.
